IM NUVO Fusion 40

So I was going to slowly work my way back into saltwater (partly out of boredom, but mostly because I miss it) and I found a guy parting out his tank, so I contacted him about the light fixture (AI Hydra TwentySix HD) and his powerhead (MP10QD Wireless). I talked him down a little if I were to buy both of them together. So I showed up last night after work to pick them up and ended up coming home with his entire setup for the price of said light and wave maker. So knocked out a few birds with one inexpensive stone there. The tank had been neglected for awhile, so it and all of the equipment are currently getting a nice vinegar bath and the live rock is sitting in a cooler (wasn't in the best of shape, so I'm going to clean it off and cure it, and when I'm ready to start everything I plan on putting a few pounds of live rock from an established tank in with it).

So as far as my equipment goes...

-Innovative Marine NUVO Fusion Mini 40
-AI Hydra TwentySix HD
-MP10QD Wireless
-Eshopps PSK100h Protein Skimmer (purchasing a Tunze 9400 for a better look, but will use which works better)
-2x Custom Caddy's
-Tunze Nano ATO
-100watt heater

I currently have no clue on what livestock and corals I plan to put in. I am going to order and stand and RODI unit shortly though. Anyway, I'm excited to be back in the world of saltwater.

Cheers!

If I were you I would replace the 2x custom caddy's with media baskets from InTank. They are much higher quality and will force water through your media as opposed to water spilling around the basket.

One of the best upgrades you can make IMO.

I was going to wait to make my first post for when I finally got my tank. You have the one I want and man, I'm dying for an update.

Welcome to Reef Central. I have no idea of your experience level, but if you haven't had a reef tank before, I would recommend starting a thread in the "New to the Hobby" section to get help directed towards your tank goals. Make sure to read the stickies in that section too as they will be immensely helpful.

Again, that is assuming you've never done this before.

But yes -- I agree, we need an update! :lolspin:

This will be my first tank. I've been scouring YouTube videos for over a year now learning all I can from Bulk reef supplies, Coralfish12g, Innovative Marine, Fish of Hex and many many others. When I get my tank sometime after tax season is when I'll get to starting threads and build journals. I really want to see this build though.

Looking forward to following along on this build! I am planning on setting up a NUVO Fusion 40 with similar equipment sometime in the spring of next year and will be checking back regularly to see your thoughts on how everything works out together.

That is a good find. I think a tank like yours will be my next tank. I am ready to see how this is going to turn out. Looks like an awesome set up you picked up.
