Got an order from each of these today and I couldn't be happier with the products. OUTSTANDING! Here is what I bought:
From Inland:
2 Flora Packs
1 Fauna Pack
1 Detrivore Pack
12 Micro Stars
12 Baby Bristles
1 aptasia eating nudibranch
Everything is doing great. There were about 30 mini brittles, dozens of amphipods, and a bunch of peppermint snails included with the packs not to mention many other snails etc. Too much to mention.
From IPSF:
Mix and Match special with:
Long feather caulerpa
Short feather caulerpa
6 sand bed clams
All 3 types of snails offered
Mama Mia worms
Tang heaven red and green
Amphipods
Mini stars
Again, simply awesome. The clams are great. I will be buying more in the near future. Hope that anyone curious about these places reads this and buys their products. You and your reef will be pleases.

Matt, I am actually setting up a brand new tank so I am not the best person to ask. I don't plan on adding anything else for at least 2 weeks to give the critters time to establish themselves and start breeding (hopefully). However, I would feed your tank heavily for a few days before adding them and add them with the lights being off for a few hours before. I am sure you will have some casualties, but hopefully not many. If you have a refugium, I would add them directly to it.

I've never done it, but could you put them in a little plastic container and then sink it to the bottom, upside down, so then they could get to the sand quickly without being bothered. you should still do it at night after heavy feeding.

Feed the fish well and then turn out the lights. Leave them off util tomorrow. That is the best way I know of. it has worked for me 3-4 times. HTH

Vibez, they are not the same. IPSF's stars are very tiny and look more like brittle stars. They're almost invisible. Inland's stars are thick like a true starfish that you picture when you hear the word "starfish". They are about 1/4" and are much easier to spot. Very cool.

Thanks for the reply Erick1202. You wouldn't have any pics of the side by side would you?

Inland_Aquatics stuff?

Inland_Aquatics stuff?

So how much did everything from IA cost you because I am about to order some stuff and want to know if it's a good value!

I will try to get a pic for you and post it. I bought a couple of books on the order plus the microstars, some macro, and the nudibranch so mine was sort of expensive. But you could easily do a detrivore kit and flora kit plus some microstars for around $130 plus shipping. Not too bad for what you get and the fact that it's only one of 2 places you can find this stuff.

erik- on IA's website they say"2 of the following will also be included in the kit based on availability..." which 2 did they send you?

I too ordered most of the same things for my refugium several months ago and have been happy with just about everything. Still not sure of the "sand bed clams" though as they (naturally) disappered upon introduction and I haven't seen any evidence of them since.

64Ivy, I don't see any evidence of the clams either, but I haven't smelled any stench so I am going to assume they are still doing fine. I just enjoyed watching them fade into the sand. 3 of mine actually stayed on the bed for about 2-3 after they arrived.

Any sign of planaria in the IPSF order? Or do they have that problem solved now?

Concerning the sandbed clams - If you look closely, you may be able to see the tips of the siphon tube. That is about all you will see (unless they die, and then for some reason you may see the empty shell on the surface of the sand).

I saw no traces of planeria whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I am going to place another order next week from them as my refugium will be up and running (hopefully) after this weekend. I will look for the siphon tubes. Do you usually see them during the day or at night?

I saw the tips of the siphon tubes during the day. Just the tips, though. You have to look carefully.

I too have wondered where my clams have gone. I figure that they are OK somwhere in there because I haven't smelled anything decaying in there.

Complaint about IPSF

I agree with the positive statments about the IPSF sand bed kits. I recieved the 9-pick, and was very happy with it.

However I also ordered the Hawaiian MacroAlgae 6-Pack Special which was about 49.95.

The algeas were beautiful, but they were primarly individual strands. I tried to bunch them together with plastic wrap, and placed them in various setting. Well it's less than two weeks, and my single Tang has pretty much desimated them all.

What is left is some Calerpa. With shipping this Calerpa cost almost $100.

My big complaint however is that ISPF totaly ignored my emails about acclimation of these algeas. No advice, nothing.

Thats not very good customer care in my book.
