iron recipe

I was going to make Randy's iron supplement (algae is my main export) and have iron sulfate heptahydrate and sodium citrate. But, the iron sulfate heptahydrate's label says max Cu 0.001%. It's my understanding that algae removes copper at low levels so maybe it doesn't matter, but IDK for sure.

The sodium citrate label says USP, FCC.

Do you think these are OK to use?

That should be fine to use. I wouldn't worry. The amount of supplement you'll be adding is very small compared to the size of the tank.

Thanks, I was concerned with copper accumulating over time. I'll have to look into the ability of algae to remove copper.

There are a number of pathway for copper in our tanks. Copper will bind to organics, and then can be skimmed from the tank, for example. There will be trace amounts of copper (and most everything else) in foods and supplements. I wouldn't worry much.
