My LFS has an incredible teardrop maxima (approx. 7+") for sale for $250. It has incredible color with brown, tan, and flour. blue tear drops and looks very healthy. Think this is a good price?

Paul,
IMO not bad??? The fact that the maxima is 7 inches makes it very pricey just on size. And a teardrop is a rare one! $250.00 for a large rare maxima get it!

hey paul,
i saw the clam you're talking about (at petlovers, right?) and it really is amazimg! it's faded just a little bit since richard got it in (he's the saltwater guy over there..) but it's still really beautiful! my reef tank is only 20 gallons so it's out of the question for me :( you ought to get it though. it's a great specimen! richard might be willing to haggle a bit too.. btw, it's larger than 7" isnt it? it's like 10"!!

Sweet clam (looks like a combo snakeskin/tear-drop pattern).

Border Collies rule as well. I need to get mine some sheep to herd though......

manderx - that has to have been the deal of a lifetime. That is an unbelievable looking clam. I love the red. :eek1:

Hey Paul,

If it is the one in Richard's store, I was in there last week and the price was $199. Beautiful clam. (For those of you who haven't had the pleasure, it looks a lot like the one pictured above, but has more blue than red.) If I had an extra $200, I'd make room for it somewhere...

Hey Teresa!

Yep, that is the one. I really want it, but cannot right now. It would go well with the new 40 prop tank I just set up too. I just dropped a small bundle on some nice frags (including a solitarensis, dark purple poc., and a blue tort) and the wife would kill me if I came home with it.

Paul

Paul, if it's something you want, and you can provide a good home for it (which i know u can), and you can afford it....then go ahead and get it my man.

Remember this as well......

If you buy good quality stuff, there will ALWAYS be a buyer for it later on down the road if you ever wanted to sell it to make most of your money back.

the local store seems to think that if it isn't blue it's crap. :D
they had the coolest looking white squamosa that they were complaining about getting, but someone beat me to it.

manderx - If it ever outgrows your tank, send me a PM. I'll buy another freakin' tank for a clam that beautiful! :D
