I frag my xenia so I can trade it in at my LFS, I have always wondered if the gooey, slimey, stringy stuff is bad to the tank, I usally let it just float around until it get sucked im my sump.
Is this ok?
Thanks,

Slime from my SPS are fine to float around the water. No experience with xenia slime, but it should be OK. Do you use carbon in your tank? Pretty useful for miscellaneous toxins.

"Slimy, stringy stuff?"

Are you talking about that clear goo that oozes off of them when you pull them out of the water? If so I think it is fine as long as you don't have bucket loads of it going back into the tank.

I think most corals contain some sort of toxin in their slime and like xtrstangx said carbon, good filtration, and water changes are very helpful at eliminating bad stuff from the water.
