Very cool. I've seen ones thta have been grafted. Pictures only though not in person. Somebody who had two different montis touching each other and some how they came to a mutual understanding.

do you know for a fact it's the same monti??? green monti's are supposed to be dominant over all other colors and usually will win when 2 meet, the reason i mention this is the fact that the polyps themselves are a different color

i believe that is actually the same monti, if you look closely enough there are polyps of green on the red. This doesnt usually happen when you take a green cap and let it grow beside a red cap another thing is the two montis will make definite lines where they meet so if the frags are cut in squares most likely where they meet will be somewhat of a straight line.

This is possible a grafted piece given then way the green is spreading (spiked into the red) but it could also soon spread over the entire piece and you'll just have a green piece. none the less a very unqiue piece of monti!

This same subject was discussed briefly in another thread (see the link below) but unfortunately the thread starter was in denial about GFPI on his coral and then the thread was soon derailed & closed. I agree that your coral has this same GFPI phenomenon. It is very cool.

It is the same Monti. It is fraged from it's mother and the edge of the green part is continuing growth with some green and some red.

Can you tell me more about Green Fluorescent Protein?

Yeah, it's unfortunately "had". One of the many that I lost when my 240 crashed. Out of over 100 SPS, I still have "pieces" of 3 and this isn't one of them.

I'm curious as to whether or not there are any proposed mechanisms for these protein "infections." Is it a prionic type protein reaction or something else? I'm very curious as to how it works, if anything has been proposed yet.
