Is my Emerald Crab Eating or Cleaning My Stylo

My lights went out shortly afterwards, so I will have to wait till tomorrow to see if there is any damage.

It looks like his main goal is to get the algae off of it but he's destroyed some healthy polyps in the process. I definitely think he was eating the coral as he went.

This is why you can never trust a crab. Surely he was attracted to the algae, but like chad said, has no problem eating healthy polyps or tearing up tissue to get to the algae.

basically, crabs are dicks.

LOL. I love crabs, but in this case I have to admit...he needs to be put into the sump or traded in. There are only a few species of crab I keep. I used to keep emeralds and truthfully I've had zero problems with them but just based on videos like yours I have decided not to get another. But I do have two large Mexican lumpy clawed crabs in my refugium to fulfill the murderous crab need.
