Is my lighting adequate?

Want to keep SPS corals but not sure if my light setup is adequate. I have a 40 gallon breeder with a 150 watt coralife hqi pendant. Please let me know what you all think.

I always thought the rule of thumb for mh was 4-6 watts per gallon. Just my 2 cents.

it all depends on your reflector, that is a very crucial element in lighting. 150w will keep your sps alive within the top portion of your tank, colorwise it may not be the best. I would try a 250 instead

This comment is really outdated, wpg is not used any more. It depends on the bulbs, reflectors, ballasts, etc etc.
That coralife pendant is not the best, plus it wont cover 36". You need 2 of those for a 40g breeder, but I would still look into a different product.
