I have had this madarin for about a month. He eats hunts enjoys himself and all. But is he thin? He looks it to me. I did so much reaserch but can't find a way to tell if he is thin other than than a caved in stomach. His doesn't seem to be.
He eats:
Frozen black worms
Chopped flounder
Chopped salmon
Chopped shrimp
Lots of mixed pods.

I put 6000 mixed pods in my tank before I got him. They are still there, not areal of them but a good number. I add about 300 a week of mixed pods to help keep the population up.
Please excuse the mess in the pictures, my lawnmower loves to pick up and move sand. He has created a little home, almost to the floor of the tank!
Ps my lawnmower loves top stay near my mandarin but they don't bother each other, they seem to like each other!!
Oh, and that's sand on his head!

It's sand, he does catch pods in the sand and spits out the sand. His slim keeps it on him till the current gets it off. And he seems to "sleep" near the lawnmower who loves to toss sand.

What size tank? And 300 a week is very low if your going to add pods to supplement for slow repopulations rates within your tank you should do more than that. A mandarin can eat more than 300 in an hour easy.
