Is my shroom dead?

Those are just its guts - they will puke em up temporarily if something is stressing them out ...
Hows your water paramters and tank temp? Lighting?
I find that if something is off my shrooms will do this- they also react when I add a 2 part supplement of alk\calcium.. if i pour it in a little too fast they go "BLah!" and then go back to normal in a little bit - I am a bit more careful when adding the stuff now so i don't stress them.
Probably not dying, but make sure your tank parameters are where they should be so you can nip any problems in the bud

Its most likely just a stress reaction where the mushroom inverts its stomach, pretty common really.
Just watch it to make sure the mouth is not gaping or if it starts detaching its foot.
Its something more serious at that point.

I've lost a few shrooms due to stinging by neighboring corals (a pavona cactus) and they DISSOLVED, seriously. . . in two days!
