Just found Mrs. Wages at my local Wal-Mart again -- it had taken the winter off. Weird that it exists at all up here -- it's not as though anyone grows cucumbers.
Same thing, although the pickling lime will come with more impurities than the aquarium labeled stuff. By that, I mean the sediment from a standard kalk mix / settling is darker and dirtier -- not that it makes any difference whatsoever...
I'm setting up a 20gal container to drip pickling lime (Mrs. Wages). My buddy has done it on his 90gal cube and it works great. Just make sure to draw your water from about 2-3 inchs off the bottom so you don't draw up any of the crud that settles. Keep the container as air tight as possible too and don't disturb the, "crust" that will form on the top. If to much air get's to your solution it'll cause the lime to precipitate and degrade. Good luck.
I use lime from farm and fleet. Costs 3.99 for a 50lb bag. works like a champ. and you never run out. I have used this brand on my last 2 tanks and havent had any problems from it. Kevin
