Is this common or rare color

IMHO it looks like a gold maxima with nice extension, no gaping, and a bit of central bleaching. In fact I have one just like that :)

Not an uncommon color but you should enjoy it just the same in this environment where everyone is chasing the electric blues, greens, and purples ;>)

Not very rare.

Gold Maxi...They are pretty cool ones...

I have an urge for coffee as well....Maybe your clam is hypnotic, if so then it's rare and special.:D

Rare is a relative term. IMO, that i one of the few gold maxs that I would like to own. Cool pattern, gold maxs dont do much for me otherwise. BTW, the central part looks a little pale but far from anything resembling central bleaching.

hi,
very cool pattern. in the picture it lookslike you have a torch coral really close to that clam. guys willn't that burn the clam? in my opinion i would move away from torch so it doesn't burn and kill clam.

clams are impervious to coral stings. I wouldn't risk it with small clams but i am pretty sure this is said explicitly in the clam book in reference to shrooms.

I have a fungia in my clam tank that moves around quite a bit, there is only one clam of 7 nearby that seems irritated. It would appear from the literature and postings on RC most clams could care less about nearby corals. There have a been a few cases where they were more then irritated by coral stings. IME, better safe then sorry.
