thanks~

Actually, yes I think thats a torch coral (I hate it when that happens!). IMO For it to be happy it needs enough flow to make its tentacles wave around.

We need some more details about your tank:
Water parameters
lighting
flow

If it is happy they are pretty fast growers.

I agree that it is a (unhappy) torch coral - Euphyllia glabrescens. Mine has done very well in the 3 years I've had it - it started as one small head and is now a mound of about 30 heads. I keep it at a back corner of my tank where flow is not as high as other areas and lighting not as intense. Keep in mind that unlike the others in the Euphyllia family, Torch corals can and do sting other corals that are placed too close. I would suggest a minimum of at least 6" between it and it's closest neighbor.

As mentioned above - more details about your tank will help us help you with it.

Well, I never checked water parameters before cause I don't have any water kit atm.. tomorrow is time to change 50% water in my tank.. I've been cycling my tank around 1 month (still I think) and put that coral a week ago just for testing >.<

I have a small tank so I just put a white LED 10W which is bright enough :s no idea

the flow comes from the filter..

Few things here.

How do you know your tank is cycling without any water testing kits? Those are a basic necessity for this hobby. You'll definitely need to go get them ASAP.

Also, you shouldn't put live creatures in your tank "for testing" especially coral.

You'll need to wait a bit once your tank cycles before adding coral.

Finally, I'm gonna guess that light is not sufficient for coral.

My recommendation would be to slow down here. Read up on these forums and make sure you are doing this right. Rushing things can be painful in this hobby...and expensive.

PLEASE provide more information - Tank size, type of filter, get a test kit! - without actual parameters - Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Calcium, Alkalinity, and Magnesium - anything we might suggest will only be a guess. (Red Sea master kit will do for now, don't waste money on API) total flow - for LPS should be at least 20x total volume, how much rock - was it "live" or dry when you started the tank, Specs on the light (although I'll agree that it's almost certainly not enough/proper spectrum for corals), temperature, Specific gravity (a measure of how much slat is in the water - should be 1.023 - 1.026 for corals). etc.

We would really like to help you succeed with your tank - Help use Help YOU!

And no, I don't think the torch will kill fish but it will send out sweeper tentacles to attack other corals. Take a look at night using a red flashlight - can be a real eye opener!

There's a lot of brown algae in the tank.. Is it part of cycling?

Hmmm mm >.<

Likely. Please read the above two posts and answer the questions to provide more info. Also, go to your local fish store today and buy some testing kits.

Tank size is 35x25 separated with the filter.. Basic filter..
rock isn't really that much.. And it was DR not LR.. I've been looking LR for cycling the tank but all seller in my place only sell corals.. X_x
Specs on the light: 220V-240V/50-60Hz
Temp is 79 F
Didn't check Specific gravity atm, don't have tool atm:C

Agreed on torch. Frogspawn is a lot easier to see due to the tentacles and tips along them. The tips also have most of the brighter color "in most cases". Easy to confuse though because of the tentacles but frogspawn, hence the name, is not one continuous but rather bubbly or tree branch with stubs (think eggs together).

35x25x? (lengthxwidthxheight) and is that inches or centimeters? Basic filter tells me nothing. Sponge? Hang on the back? Canister?

Nothing wrong with dry rock - I start all my tanks that way. About how many pounds (or kg)?

That tells me nothing more than what you plug it in to. Brand? A picture of the light and any labels on it would help

Then how do you do water changes? Just guess? Although not the greatest, a swing arm hydrometer will work, $35-50 will buy a very nice refractometer. What is the source water? From the tap? RO/DI?

Where are you located? If you could post some pictures it would help a lot in figuring things out.
