I was at Lowes yesterday and noticed an inline heater made by Jacuzzi. It is called the Jacuzzi Rapid Heat inline heater and was found in the tub section. Has anyone used this before??? It looks fairly easy to plumb in, and if set with a temperature controller, could be a good heating source.. Let me know what you guys think. I opened the package and it looks like the tube is made of stainless steal and has a heating coil inside of it. Not sure if it will stand up to salt water????

It's made to keep a jetted tub hot without constantly adding more water. I'd highly doubt that it would stand up to salt water.

How is an aquarium different from a jetted tub??? The water is still circulating through a closed system without constantly adding more water. Also, why don't you think this will stand up to salt wate??? Some aquarium heaters are made of stainless steel and work just fine...Can you please explain your thoughts a bit more. Thanks

You can use anything on a controller to make it have a reliable thermostat, but I would be most concerned about its saltwater resistance. I would see that as its only major downfall. I cant imagine it being the most energy (or space) efficient device!

There are some inline aquarium heaters made that work well, and there are also rainbox lifeguard boxes that hold your heater and transform it into an inline-device. Have you checked out those alternatives too?

I called the manufacturer today and found out that this device is made of stainless steal but runs on 1500 Watts....OUCH!!!:eek2: :eek2: I don't think this will be cost effective. Oh well..I had to give it a shot..
