JDAntunes Deep Blue 75G Rimless

Awesome study. Thanks for the link. The reason that I decided to use vortech in my build is because I'm looking for the less than minimum heat transfer possible. I'm using metal halides and I'm gonna try not to use a chiller.

I could see that being something to look into in your location. I'm not too far away, but I just run the A/C in the summer to keep the temp regulated in my tanks, but I do end up using heaters in the colder months. Of course I'm also not using MH lighting. I'm not sure if the extra water movement would keep things cooler. Never tried. I know some people use fans for that though.

Here's another article I found today on measuring water movement if you're interested. Measureing water movement

Wow I've never seen equipment look so neat underneath the tank!

I want to get a rimless between 110 and 75 gallons. You think this is the best way to go?

This is a great looking setup. I really like how clean it is under the tank. Good idea on the wire box. I don't see a chiller, is there one?

Happy Thanksgiving! ... Happy Holidays! ... Happy New Year!

This is my wish to all of my followers that still out here.

My most sincerely apologies for not keeping up with the updates on my build thread, but for now on I'll will post at least a short weekly update to let you guys now where this system stands now...

First I will reply to all the lines posted to me since my last reply back in September last year...

Clean setup i love the trigger sump.....

Thanks RobbReef. I do like the looks of Trigger System sumps too..

Any more updates? looking into the 57g or 75g Deep blue myself.

New update with pictures coming up. IMO Deep Blue are decent tanks but not the best out there. If you have the patience and the money I'll recommend a tank by Reef Savvy instead.

looks great

Thanks Fragyoureef!!! Took a lot of research and planning to make this build come true.

How long do you still have to go with your cycle? Very nice btw.

Thanks Seabass. I let the tank cycle for four months "NO livestock". Why such a long time? My original plan was 90 days but then around that time I received a visit from an old friend and had to entertain for three weeks. Pushing my cycle an extra month. I started transferring a few of my corals December 15th, and on December 25th I transfer my mated pair of false percula clownfish. Oh Boy, they were happy!!!

any updates?

Coming up! Damarcman...

Gorgeous work and set up. Inspiring, and still no livestock. LOL!

Thank you, roblack. I'm really trying my best...

Where did you order your rock from?

I got it from a local club member. I guess he was planning a bigger build that never got done and sold everything that he collected for it. The rock is very nice. I couldn't be any happier wit it. Very easy to aquascape with.

I also like the rock you used in your build. You have a nice open aquascape... very inspiring to me!!!

great build

Thanks again, Fragyoureef!

Vhot is the dimension of the stand .

The dimensions are 48" L X 18" W X 33" H. Hope this helps Blesk, sorry for the delayed reply.

any updates

Coming up, Blesk..... Update & Pictures

Good question unhandleable!!! My original upgrade was going to be a 120G but then I switched my plan into a 75G, to be more energy eficient.

See... My goal is to grow my coral frags into large colonies, in a 120 Gallon the height of the tank is 24" and 24" wide and to have good light in there I needed 2 X 250W lamps. In my 75 Gallon tank the height is 20" and only 18" wide with 2 X 150W lamps I have enought light to get to my goal and I'm saving 200W.

In my case a 75 Gallons works best....

Beautiful stand.Good luck with your project

Thank you very much gbiondo. Hope you keep following my thread...

Thank you, coopj. The wire box is the best on my design... I'll post new pictures with all the wiring inside.

Nope, no chiller. And I'm happy to inform that I'm really close to run my lights full schedule (12 hours T5 / 8~10 hours MH) and not need of a chiller. I'm running a Tunze Aquawind to help me control the temperature down. I'll be working in the final setup of two Aquawind units these weekend.

Well... there it is... all questions replied!

I'm going to start loading pictures tonight and write a good update tomorrow night.

Stay tuned !!!

On my last update back in September, I had the tank filled with sand and rocks, no livestock. I was planning to let it cycle for 90 days. The final date was November, 15th. But around this day, a old friend of mine came to visit me from overseas. I had to entertain and then I went out of town for a few days. Because of it, I choose to delay my date for another few weeks.

Later that month, I took advantage on Cyber Monday sale to order the most expensive equipment of the build to save a few bucks. Within a week the new goodies were delivered to me... :celeb1:

I got as planned two Ecotech Marine MP40W ES pumps and a Reef Octopus Extreme 160!

Immediately unpacked and stared at this beauty (My First Protein Skimmer)

I was ready to install the rest of the equipment, give a week of running trial and then if everything looked good, start transferring the livestock from my Biocube.

The following weekend, I started my electronic equipment installation. I marked all the locations were everything was going to be hung on my equipment board.

Made a couple of holes to get all the wires through the wall and after a couple of hours, I became very happy with my little proyect...

I connected everything into my new Aquacontroller and started programming. It took me a few hours to read the manual and started setting up. Once you start playing with it, is really simple to program. I highly recommend this unit to anyone who is looking to install a controller.

I ran all my equipment on programs for less than a week, everything worked great. During my trial the nights became a little colder than usual and the tank was dropping numbers at night. Without any hesitation, I bought a EHEIM Jager 250W heater. This thing is big!!! After thinking for the best location to set it up, it fitted perfectly in my sump return chamber. You can almost not see it!

All parameters were stable enough to start transferring my livestock. On December 15th, four months after filling my tank with salt water and started cycling. I moved most of my corals and started acclimating them to the new shine of Metal Halides. On Christmas day my mated pair of False Percula Clownfish made their move to their new home...
