JDAntunes Deep Blue 75G Rimless

Definitely one of the most well organized builds Ive ever seen! Great job.

Thank you. I took a lot of planning and love for the hobby...

I like the small footprint of that skimmer. Hows it performing?

I'm very pleased with too. I don't have a heavy bio-load, that means that my waste is very low. I feed once a day and I keep a tight clean up crew of blue legs, Astrea snails, Nassarius snails and a couple of brittle stars. My clean up crew combine with the power of my skimmer have keep my water stripped from any nutrients. NO3 level is zero with no visible undesired algae growing in the display.

Jonathan, Congratulations, Very pretty tank, I love the level of organization, it looks sweet.

Your words mean a lot to me. After knowing all the years that you have of experience in the hobby and seen that gorgeous system you house. Which by the way have been is a big inspiration to me.

Thank you very much...

All right... It is time for an update

My system parameters have been very stable for the last couple of months, so I decided to add a couple of more fish. I wanted to get a paired couple of red firefish but knowing that these fish tent to jump out of the tank in stressful occasions, I have to put myself to work in a little project.

I order the bird net and frame from BRS. A few days later, I received everything needed to build my safety lid.

These is an easy little project that I recommend to keep all our jumpers where they belong....in tha' tank! :fish1:

I'll keep the lid in place when I'm not showing off my system.

Right after I finished the lid, I found just what I was looking for in my LFS....

The couple of firefish has been well welcome by the rest of the crew. They been feeding regularly and there is no aggression that I have seen. They both sleep together in the same cave.

Now, I gonna step up the game a little more and get into something more delicate...but definitely the reason of these expensive setup. My first ACROPORAS...

Here are the last parameters readings taken by Salifert testers and Phosphates test by Hanna Checker...

Salinity 35 PPM

Temperature 77 ~ 79 F

pH 8.0

NH4 (Ammonia) 0 mg/L

NO2 (Nitrites) 0 ppm

NO3 (Nitrates) 0 ppm

PO4 (Phosphates) 0.01 ppm

KH/ Alk 12.1 dKH / 4.33 meq/L

Ca 420 ppm

Mg 1320 ppm

Sorry, I guess I missed to post one up!

Here's is the finished lid...

Thanks for all the great comments, guys!

Parameters has been stable. Now I'm trying to decide which method to use to dose Calcium and Alkalinity will be the best suitable for my tank needs.

I bought a Tunze Osmolator and I'm getting a water reservoir. Now I'm leaning more to dose Kalkwasser in my water reservoir or maybe get a Kalkwasser stirrer connected to the osmolator, don't know yet.

Or maybe just get a Bubble Magus dosing pump and just dose BRS two part solution.

As you see, I'm struggling a little with my decision. Any thoughts?

Wow... this thing... looks... amazing...

great job buddy. I really like EVERYTHING that you have done to this tank.

Well, three months has past since I fired up the 10K and is time to switch, I posted a thread in the lighting forum and decided to upgrade to 20K without coral acclimation. It has been four days after the switch and everything looks fine. Just as before. I will post if anything different happens.

I also decided to use the two part dosing and get a couple of BRS doser (1.1 ml per minute) and containers. These approach looks more appealing to me because, I will have more control on the amount of Ca, Alk and Mg that is being added to the tank.

Even that is more expensive than dripping Kalkwasser, I feel this is my way to get the dosing done.

Why not dose both? Can do 1 tsp per top off gallon and your 3 part 1.1ml dosing.
Plus get the added phosphate reducing benefit of kalk

I understand that, but my evaporation levels are not always the same. Some days I evaporate more than others, maybe because I have two fans temperature switched by my Apex.

I just wanted to make it simple and the more accurate possible.

Thanks for your opinion. By the way, your Marineland tank build is awesome!

Very good point, I guess in my case it's a little different since I have a chiller hooked up to my tank. But then again, evaporation as you have said, differs from day to day.

I'm currently dosing 2-part and it's more then enough. My levels are perfect now. I guess when things start to grow out, other options will have go be taken into consideration.
