jellyfish in nano

I was looking at my tank last night before the normal lights went out and only the moonlights go on and I noticed a very small jellyfish like creature. Unfortunately, it moves too quickly and gets moved around with the current in my tank so I was unable to take a picture. I thought at first that it was an extremely small baby polyp (about the size of a brad nail head) that had detached from a piece of rock but upon closer inspection, it was actually pulsing it's "head" to move throughout the water column. I was wondering if this actually is a jellyfish and if so, is it okay to leave in my 12g nano tank? I hope it is because it was really amazing watching this "thing " last night!

its posible to have a jellyfish in your tank, i have seen one in mine before. but they wont last long in the common aquarium.

If it is indeed a jellyfish, it is possible for it to sting and irritate different things in your tank. Especially corals.

I was thinking that also. I guess if it survives long enough to start stinging my corals, I will try to catch it and bring it to the LFS. Pretty neat little guy though. It reminds me of some of the jellyfish I have seen on the Discovery channel during their reef shows just on a much, much smaller size.

they wont last long in a normal tank. first trip through the filter usally ends it. but theres many types of jellys, some dont even sting. and theres one type thats no bigger than your thumbnail that can kill you in mins. so it would be hard to say yes or no without a positive ID. but they generally arent anything to worry about.
