Joes Juice flame test

I'm pretty sure it's just kalk.

It looks like kalk.
It's got a very high pH.
It's got tons of calcium in it.

If it looks like a duck it probalby is.

What color would the strontium flame be?

I sold back my qualitative chem book that had a nice list of many flame colors :(

IIRC from approx 28 years ago... Sr would be red, Na yellow/golden.

IIRC I used a Pt ring, some HCl and a Bunsen burner.

I was typing/thinking when Boomer posted.

I'm glad my memory is not too bad. :D

I will flame-test some tonight. Sounds like a good activity for my pyromaniac alter ego. Can I use a utility knife as the support?

Okay, tests done. I used two (rusty) utility knife blades and my kitchen gas oven.

The blades didn't seem to have much effect on the flame until Joe's Juice was added. The Juice puts out a lot of orange-ish yellow light, after the liquid evaporates. I tried repeatedly with the clean knife blade ends and the ends with Joe's Juice, but only the Juice parts produced the color. The flame looked much like orange-ish yellow color from the oven-top when it's not burning so cleanly, maybe more orange in the center of the flare.

That sounds like calcium based on boomer's links. Try the same thing wil kalkwasser or turbo calcium (CaCl2) to see if it's the same color.
