Just bought a new skimmer!

So I finally found a skimmer that would work in my lowrider stand (20"). I got a used AquaC on ebay for $130. I feel like I got quite a bargain. And I already have a Quietone 3000 to drive it. Oooh the excitement in upgrading from the Oceanic!

I like my AquaC, I also bought mine used, and I happened to break the collection cup accidently right after I got it. Thankfully the manufacturer has great customer service, I ordered a replacement (very inexpensive) with no problem, and they even sent me a follow up e-mail to ask if I'd received it, and to ask if it was working out ok for me.

I will let you guys know how the thing works, hopefully next week. I don't have too much to compare it too unfortunately. The oceanic is just way too small for overloaded setup, so I hope this helps with my hair algae problem. I noticed a big improvement when I reduced feeding by a good amount, and the fish don't look bad for it either.

I will also be moving the skimmer to a different part of my sump, so i will have a 24" by 12" open area (maybe some taken by the skimmers pump). I was thinking of adding a fuge, but I'm not too sure as for how to do it, considering that I only have about 8" of clearance above the sump top. More on that later I suppose.

I've got the EV180 on my 90, and love it. I use a mag pump on it, but builds up heatin the tank, would use an external pump.

So I just got the skimmer, and everything looks good. The only issue is the smell. Oy the smell! All of the little critters that lived in the skimmer seemed to have perished in shipping, so it's getting a nice vinegar bath on the porch.

I am going to install it as soon as my wavemaker and powerheads show up, so I can used my CL pump to drive the skimmer.

I will let you guys know how it goes.

I like my Remora, its on the MJ1200 and seems to fill the cup about every 8-10 days, on my 29g, but not sure if thats great or just OK.

Well I finally got everything hooked up, along with my new wavemaker and powerheads. The skimmer barely slid into my sump. Anything bigger would have been a mistake. As for now it hasn't made any foam, but I gave it a good bath, so I assume it's like new.

I'll post when I see what results I get.
