Good evening :)

Well, I bought a coarl life super skimmer today, for my 45 gallon tank

I assembled it, first time i put it in the tank the lil bubble box was spitting out tons of microbubbles, but the skimmer itself looked to be doing its job, making lil bubbles

I took it out to make some adjustments on the little box and i tuened the pump to face the other way (having problems with box sitting on top of pump, but in picture they seem to be a good distance apart)

I adjusted, and turned it on (only 50% commpacity for 72 hours)
The bubble box wasent spitting out micro bubbles anymore, but the skimmer itself looked like it wasent doing anything, no bubbles not even a wave to let me know the water was flowing thru it. I blew into the 'air inlet silencer' and a second later the skimmer looked like I thoght it should.. but only for a moment.

It was getting late and time to turn the lights off.. i took it back out of the tank and decided to try agian tomoorrow, been a long day.

Can anyone share theyre experiences with a skimmer? Im not sure what to look for to make sure its working correctly at first

skimmers take a little while to break in. when i got my skimmer i had crazy microbubbles for the first week. but if you play with the adjustments for a while you will figure it out. give it some time.

Can you post a picture of your setup? The skimmer should be producing visible air bubbles in the tube at all times when it's running. Is the pump too deep in the water?

The instructions give a maxiumum depth. I moved mine up in the water column until it started showing signs of drawing air through the water input.

hey i just bought the same setup a few days ago and set it up yesterday......yeah my return box was producing some bubbles...but not many.....my problem is that the silencer fell into the water as i was setting up, now it won't stop making a "whistling" noise.....its very annoying.....should I take the skimmer off and let it sit in the sun for a few days? (i think the water in the tube is making the noise)

You should be able to try off the relevant part with a towel or the like in a few minutes. On the other hand, I would think that the skimmer would dry out on its own fairly quickly. You might need to clean some part of it with fresh water.

im thinking mine was working incorrectly because i got water in my inlet tube...

im not running it right now, going to try agian when i get home, but lastnight it wasent making any bubbles

the pump and box are both at required mesurments.

microbubbles arn't really bad they just make the tank look bad so mainly just cosmetics. as for the coralife skimmer i can't help you out as i have an ASM G2. but i can tell you that it will need some time running in the tank to break it in before you really see it doing something.
