Just got the 2x6100 Stream Kit-Need advice

I just hooked everything up in my tank today but need some advice as to what will work best with how I positioned the streams.

I have an AGA 180 gallon Reef Ready with Mega Overflows. Attached is a picutre of where I have placed the streams and the flow direction.

Right now I have the controller running on the interval but I'm alittle confused on this setting because is it just alternating back an forth between the 2 streams?

What I would like is for one pump to run for a few seconds and then shut off and at that point I would like the other to run for a few seconds a shutoff and so on. This way the stream of water is not meeting in the center of my tank.

If you could please let me know what setting would be best for how I positioned the streams, that would be great.

By the way, THESE THINGS ARE INCREDIBLE!!!!

The shortest duration between switching the Stream pumps on and off is one minute. To do this you will need to have one pump in the last socket and one pump in the first socket. The mode switch needs to be at the top (tide mode-two arrows pointed at each other). Switch the Interval to 1-75min. Turn the interval knob to min 1min. Now, the pump that is on is pulsing by the pulse knob in seconds 1-7. Set the pulse knob for 3 seconds (do as you wish but I usually find this is the best). Set the top knobs to 100% and the bottom knobs to 30% (do what works for you but the bottom knobs are what it switches to at night). Now, if it was my set I would use pulse mode and skip all that tide stuff and just pulse them one at 30/100% and the other at 100/30%. This keeps the night from being too still and dropping pH and keeps animals from entering a stopped pump as the pumps never turn off.

Just looked at your diagram, tide mode is best for this set up but keep in mind animals can enter the pump when it is off and this will kill a fish or break the prop if it is a snail or hermit. I think 5 minute intervals would be best.

I tried to do the pulse but the problem I had is that when the 2 streams are going at the same time, the water clashes right in the middle and some splashing occurs near the surface.

I have to order the extensions to lower the streams in the tank more. I'm just using what comes with the Streams. Maybe when I lower the pumps in the tank more I will not have the splashing near the surface.

Also, I have a sandbed and it seems to be blowing around. Should I turn the streams back alittle or will this settle with time?

Thanks!

The sand issue should go away with time. Of course you could turn them back until the snd grows biofilm and compacts.

In a 180 where do you recommend putting the streams with the new AGA mega overlfows?
Where do most people place their streams that you have talked too?

I didnt know if their was a recommended placement by Tunze.

The end walls is ideal. The megaflows are too new for me to have any experience with. So much depends on rock structure that it is really just trial and error.
