If your skimmate bucket gets too full it will overflow and create a mess. All you would need is a float valve to the serial port to turn off the skimmer and send you an alarm that your bucket needed to be emptied.
 
What would the programming be?

Also, which float switch is recommended and how is it hooked up? Anyone have a diaram?

Use one of these, hook one wire to the minidin cable pin 8, the other to pin 1 if I recall, then "If Switch1 CLOSED Then SKM OFF" or something similar.
 
Got an Breakout Box from Neptune Systems and Curt told me to use the following programming which seems to work:

If Switch1 CLOSED Then XXX OFF
If Switch1 OPEN Then XXX ON
