Killing a sponge on Sun Coral

I have a sun coral that has a spot of exposed skeleton with a sponge growing on it. The sponge is very close to the tissue so I am a little concerned about how to get rid of it. Is my best bet to scrape it off? Is there some other method to kill the sponge that won't hurt the sun coral?

take it out of the water for a minute or two, sponges can't be exposed to air

most sponges can't be exposed to air. however i think there are some small ones that grow on live rock that will last. I moved my tank and all my rocks where exposed and all the sponges made it.

but i do agree try taking it out of the water.

I second the out of water and maybe you can even scrap it off?
