Can anyone recommend someone in the NE Ohio area that can come out and test water quality, equipment, etc? We are having problems with our 90 gallon reef tank with STN, corals browning out, etc. We have done water changes, checked our ozone unit, our skimmer, added a phosphate remover, etc...and cannot seem to get the problem taken care of. We have had the tank well over 4 years and never had the problems we are having now.

We would like someone that can check all of our equipement we are running, check the water quality, check for parasites, add what may be needed, etc. Salty Critter recommended someone named Jeff from Club Reef but I have been unable to find any information.

Someone help!

Most of the time if you take a bag of your water to the lfs they will test the water for you. :)

stupid question, Whens the last time you changed the bulbs and what type lighting system do you have?

Do a freshwater dip on your corals to kill any parasites you may have.

I heard your county extension agency can do it, I have mine done periodically by the Rainsoft company who I purchased my water softner from.

OneThunder is right. You may have to take your county agent a bottle of water, and you should hand-carry it and it should be fresh as you can get it. Call your county offices and ask for the environmental people if nobody knows what you're talking about. As a citizen you also have a right to the water quality information that is collected by the water department about what comes out of your tap, and they should be glad to give it to you. You may faint when you see it. We did.

Thanks for the responses. We don't really trust our LFS to do this. We use the boxed water you can buy at Petco right now for water changes and top of with water from home that is run through a filter. We have 2 400 watt MH bulbs. We had them on a timer that we recently found out was bumped and the lights were on for about 12 hours a day. Could too much lighting have killed them? I did not think that was possible with acros.
