Lawnmower Blenny--do They Nip Clams?

I have been researching the purchase of a lawnmower blenny for my 110g in other forums. I heard that they may nip clams as well as some corals. Has anyone kept the two together? I currently have a 6" deresa and am considering purchasing a maxima. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have a lawnmower blenny in my 120g, along with 6 clams (all T. maxima), and have never witnessed anything to indicate a problem.

I have seen it happen but generally with full adult blennies. It doesn't seem to happen often but can rarely happen....

Using search, check out a tread titled 'Clam vs Blenny' I had to remove an adault blenny for that very reason....

every lawnmower and bi color blenny was a clam and coral nipper. it is pretty common for them to nip clams and corals. Well maybe not but I would bet at least 50-50 chance it will be a clam nipper. But if the clams are established then the lawnmower you may have better luck. If you have the blenny first it may become a clam nipper= clams release mucus during acclimation and may attract fish or shrimp sometimes. The nipping makes it mucus more = a circle of nipping. JME

i have a maxima and a derasea with a lawnmower and havent had any probs. the lawnmower has enough grass to mow without worrying about the clams :)

I have 2 maximas and a lawnmower. No nipping occurs but the blenny's favorite hangout is right next to one clam and that clam tends not to fully expand. I have had the clam for 5 months and it is doing well but I would like to see it fully open more often.
