leak terror (funny story)

so if you've been following me, i recently got a used 165g tank.

put a lot of work into buffing it, redoing the stand, etc.
a lot of money so far in lights and equipment.

filled the tank up and left it running in the garage to check for leaks for 48 hours. not a drop.

so i've recently filled it 1/2 way with water.
last night i added 200lbs of sand.

wake up this morning and go down to see how clear the water has gotten, and i notice the floor is wet. and the tank looks like it has lost several gallons.

oh curse words right?!

the thing is the floor isn't soaking wet like you would think, and the carpet isn't wet anywhere around the tank. it's wet in the middle of the floor and in the back corner.

so i mark the water level and am cursing up a storm. i'm playing the waiting game to see if the water level drops some more.

then i see one of my cats walk across the floor. his back end is almost dripping wet... the little peice of $&*# fell in the tank!!!!

now that i look in the tank, there is cat hair in there. so i think i have a smoking gun.

i don't know if i have ever felt more relieved!

lesson learned... ALWAYS KEEP THE HOOD CLOSED!
thought you guys might get a kick out of that.

Too bad it was able to get out... :D

I am with you on that one!

Which cat was it?

I saw cat once get caught up in a the AC cooler fan of the family car. Not a pretty sight.
I wonder if a cat got caught in a power head what would happen? :evil

Wow, a bunch of cat haters on this forum. :)

it was banjo. my fat cat. i don't know how he got up there, since he acts like he has a problem jumping up onto the couch...

Saw a queen trigger at a store out in Ohio about a year ago that would cure any cat of being up near the top of the tank. That fish went after an employee's hand that was just near the top edge of the tank. :eek1:
