LEAR - Lake Erie Frag Fest, 2014

We cant wait to make the drive! The Mrs. and I have been counting down the days and the money is burning a hole in our pocket. See you all there! Splash Corals will hopefully come thru and make a BIG SPLASH in our tank lol

Only need to register in fragswapper if you want to sell or buy before the swap. You can come the day of and get in

I'm glad I stubbled across this thread. Im not sure how I never heard of this swap being that I'm from Buffalo. Someone mentioned buying before the actual swap. How do I do that? Also, how early do people start showing up? I'd rather show up early than stand in line and miss the good picks.

I'm looking forward to this

I still hate you all..... Hope it snows 2 feet.

I will be in sunny Florida thinking of you all buying all that gorgeous coral and hating you

Doors open this year at 11:00 we start wrist bans at 10ish or when the line starts getting big.
Glad you found this thread!

Florida is sounding pretty good right now Pastor Salty pick your frags out on Fragswapper and have someone pick them up for you and you can have your cake and eat it too

Well we decided to get a room. Thanks to the fellow reefer that posted about that! We are over 90 mins away so this was a great idea. Splash isn't coming thru for us so more money will be spent at other vendors and then we plan on seeing Dan at Salty Critter in Vermillion. He posted there are specials for us reefers who will visit after the swap. Awesome! See you all there!

Thanks lol we will see actually got a ton on reserve allready might blow it all on coral this year instead. Either way very excited.

Again I hate you all that are able to go to the swap..... On another note it was 84* and sunny today.

If someone see some extra large gold torch, large hammers, blue cynaria for sale let me know.

To recap ..... You all stink, Florida is great, love me some HUGE LPS.

Getting ready to set this swap up tonight, see you all tomorrow...well not all, sorry about your luck pastor, dont sweat to much in that heat ;)

I know this is kinda last minute question. If you reserve something like a fish and the actual fish doesn't look like the pic when you go to pick it up, do I have to buy it? I have also tried to contact the person through fragswapper and facebook, but no response.

Edit: I have not hit the request item button yet for this post.

Is the fish a tang? If so, the tang police will break your knees unless the bag it is in holds more than 1000 gallons.

Seriously, it is very bad etiquette to request a fish and not take it, the poor fish will be bagged and driven possibly hundreds of miles for nothing, and this is a lot of work for the swapper who may be counting on the money to pay for other deals. But it is also very bad etiquette if they posted a picture that doesn't look like the fish (beware the effects of different lights!) and not to get back to you (but that could be technical problems). However all this is etiquette - it is not enforced. Worst case, someone gets mad at you and refuses to do deals in the future.

If I were in your situation, I'd spend my money elsewhere. IMO none of the prices on fish are good enough to take the risk. If you really want it, send a request, be prepared to take the fish if it isn't exactly what you expect, and try to negotiate and keep a calm head if you decide not to go through with the deal.
