Lets ID this parasite form my Elegance coral

Hi all,

I acquired new elegance 2 days back and its tentacles have been swollen and retracted the whole time..I just might realised why..

When lights went out i noted white thing sticking out of its retracted flesh, thought it could be piece of rock or some unfortunate shellfish prey,,, removed it and it scared the hell out of me.. Its ugly and huge bug kinda thing. Id retract as well is such a monster would be munching on me.

Who came across these guys? just please dont tell me this thing is beneficial or favourable

That's creepy! Generally, when you find critters on a coral, it's because they eat it, so removal is a good idea. Good luck with your elegance!

Gall crab perhaps? You might want to compare what you have to some pictures online and go from there.

Yes might be.. but gall would have scissors, i could not find on mine,, it was not burrowed in the sceton but more like attached to its flesh and munching on it.. dunno, he's goner thats for sure.

Interestingly dip would not harm sob that big

Bayer insecticide will kill them. Not eggs though,
As stated, worms and things like this usually are obligate munchers.
