Hey guys,

Lately I've become very interested in capturing motion shots.. they are very challenging and require precise movement, especially the panning shots...and totally fun! I'd like to see everybody's motion shots and let's compare techniques, tips and tricks. Long exposure, freeze frame, panning shot, etc. as long as the subject is "in motion" please post them here. Also if you can, please post some exif info :)

I shot this bird while flying using moderately slow shutter speed (1/40?) Some post processing.. one of my favorite shots.

my son onboard a train that is going about 5 ft per second.. very slow kiddie ride and also VERY difficult shot because the train kept bouncing, the camera was handheld, and my son won't sit still..lol

There was a cop zooming by, I thought I'd take a few shots of it as well. Not too bad but I need more practice..

I wish I used f/16 or f/22, but you don't exactly get a 2nd chance on these. I am fairly certain the streak on the upper right of the image is an F-15 but not positive.

I like the panning shots. I don't find that much opportunity to do them. Though it's time to start finding and taking advantage of them more. I am usually trying to crank out the fastest shutter speed I can get to get it sharp. Mountain biking in Moab

Joseph, those shots are just awesome! Very inspiring! I am looking at getting a camera for xmas, you might have to teach me how to use it... :D Ever since I saw those pics you took at the playboy mansion, I have been wanting to get a REAL camera ;)

No one else? Here's one I took a while ago. Don't ask me what I was thinking using f20!! I don't even think I was looking at my parameters!

I think it worked out great. The snow is a little grey, so maybe f/18 would have been better but...man I can actually imagine myself on that sled.

Not nearly as good as what has been posted, but...

That would have been a great fox picture if you had gone 1/160 or 1/200.

Fantastic pictures here!!!

I am sure it would have been. But, we rounded a bend while hiking and there it was. I was just happy that he ran by us, and not at us. ;)
In that picture it was about 7 feet away.

And I wish I would have had that camera a bit longer before that trip, was still figuring it out. Just I will just have to go back there. :)

My favorite action shot:

Complete dumb luck. I was lining up for the portrait just as the beetle decided to take off.

 I almost never shoot anything that moves. My primary exception is when the airshow comes to town every year.
