Anyone know if there as a LFS that currently has an Achilles Tang? Such a beautiful tang that has won my heart over, looking to find him :)

d&g...sorry I'm not from the Ft Collins area. What is the actual name of the store d&g? Just curious cause I might give them a call and see what the price is like.

Ah, well that puts a little better perspective on the situation. Rather not buy one from an unhealthy tank :). Thanks for the input guys.

tang

tang

Todd's in Aurora has one as of Friday. Todds is just arround the curve where Havana turns into Hampden.

Best bet is to have a shop order you one and pick it up before it gets taken out of the bag. That is the only way I buy fish from D&G. He does not qt and cuts and dumps. No acclamation at all. If the fish lasts more than 2 weeks in his shop it is probably ok. His theory is that only 25% of fish sold survive. I think it is more like 25% of the fish HE sells survives.

they are like 75 or so. but they are D&G pets. be careful cuz i have not had great luck with their fish.

wierd. all the fish in my tank are from d&g.

can you guys be more specific? ive been goin there for about 3 months and my dad has for about a year. all his fish seem to be doing fine as well.

i have had a kole tang, a pair of percs, a bi color blenny and a zebra moray all die from D&G and its not like i had them for a few months they all died within a week or two. i habe had better luck with their corals.

It just sounds kinda funny to hear that you buy livestock from d&g, but yet you obvuisly work at denizens.(your bio says you work at the LFS)

Gary has a good selection from time to time and as long as you can keep it in the bag or if it has been there for a couple weeks it has worked for me. The fact that he cuts the bag open, drains the water, and throws the fish into an existing tank shows that it is not surprising that only 25% of his fish live, and that is what he says is normal. Boarderguy, if all that you have bought from him has lived, consider yourself lucky. If you continue to buy, the 25% rule will catch up to you. Easiest way, if possible, is to be there between 2-3 on Mon and Thurs when he gets his stock. Then you can pick and choose before he shocks them.
Just my $.02

why is it funny that i work at denizens and but fish other places? if some one has somehting i want i will buy it. denizens doesnt have everything i want. and no i will not buy fish from gary any longer, only inverts have done well from D&G.

just seems funny to me. wont denizens give you a better deal? if i worked at a LFS i would try and get the livestock that i wanted thru the store when they placed thier orders. just the way i do things i guess.

i mean dont get me wrong here, i shop at both denizens and d&g. and yea it is alarming that he just throws the livestock in after draining the water, but it just seems kinda tacky to me to get on a forum and bash other local stores.

i've been in the hoby longer that working at denizens and have bought my fare share from everyone. i send people over to gary all the time from denizens if we dont have what they want or need. do you remember how this thread started? i told someone to go to gary because he had a fish they wanted, but i guess i could have suggested to order it from denizens.i wouldnt consider my reply "bashing," i was giving my expierence that i have had with them (it seems i'm not the only one who has had this expierence either). if i were working and told customers not to go to D&G then i think there would be an issue of "tackiness".
