Lighting for a 165 gallon

After placing an 830 watt Outer Orbit on a 165 gallon, I'm wondering if this is actually too much UV light for the corals. There is a wide variety of corals and a clam, and it seems like anything in the top half of the tank is being blasted by intense UV from the (3) 150 watt HM bulbs and (4) 96 watt Actinics. Even in the fish stores I don't see tanks illuminated with this much light. I know they recommend 1 MH for every 2 horizontal feet of tank, but the intensity is so bright the fish hide under rocks during the daytime lighting cycle.

Should 1 or more of the 150 watt MH bulbs be replaced with 70 watt bulbs to bring the light intensity down some?
