Lighting For Clams In 38 Gal Tank?

Hey guys
After reading a lot on this board I am interested in maybe adding a few clams to the 38-gallon tank that I will be setting up in the near future. The dimensions of my tank are 36ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚L x 12ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚w x 20ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚h. I was thinking about using an Iwasaki 250 watt 6500k metal halide and a 96 watt blue actinic pc. I wondering if this if enough lighting? If any of you could suggest something that I have missed and could help me I would be very grateful if you could bring it to my attention. Do any of you run a light set up similar to this in a tank of about the same size? If so do you have any pictures of the tank, which I can perhaps see? That is all I can think of right now, but if I have any other questions I will post them.

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff,

Being that your tank is 20" deep and after getting some LR in there with the 250MH w/ PC you should be fine.

Do your clam a favor though, wait a while before putting in a clam, let your tank stabilize first.

Spend 34.00 on Daniel Knop book, "Giant clams" as I know you will enjoy it. I also have several educational links on my web site that I also would recommend reading. Time worth while. :)
