Lighting Hours

Actinic On at 8 AM
MH on at 11 AM
MH off at 5 PM
Actinic off at 8 PM
Moonlights On At 8PM
Moonlights Off At 12 PM

Hope this helps!

Actinics on at 10am
MH on at 11am
MH off at 9pm
Actinics off at 10pm

Currently Moonlights run 24x7. I am looking to change that, but need to make room for another timer.

I also randomly turn the MH off. I might shut them off before they come on (from the timer) and manually turn them on an hour or two later, or turn them off an hour or two early. I think this randomness helps, but have nothing scientific to show for it.

It really depends on the season that I am trying to simulate. Right now the Acts are coming on at about 10am then 2 Halides come on at about 12 noon. The final halide comes on at 2pm. The the 3rd halide goes off at 6:15pm followed by the other two at 7:20 pm then the acts at 10pm. Then the moonlights come on....Is all of this necessary??? Probably not but I am bored and I like to tinker.

Reading this I think I am doing something wronge. Moon lights on from 6:55pm to 7:55am and my day lights on at 8am and off at 7pm. I am still not sure what all this stuff is Actinics and MH i believe is Metal halids. SO help here needed to please

i run actinics 930am to 1100am then mh from 11am to 6 or 7 pm, then actinic til 9 or 10pm.. then moon lights..

On my180 sps tank I have the 2 VHos actinics which come on at 7 am and go off at 930pm
The 2- 400 20 k halides comes on in stages the first at 230 pm and the second at 3pm. They go off at 730 and 8pm

asking about sps is getting a bit of topic unless your refering to the light cycle being different because of sps?

I was and will be again soon running :
11am 1st vho actinic on
12pm 2nd vho actinic on
1pm 1st 400w 10K MH on
130pm 2nd 400w 20k MH on
200pm 3rd 400w 10k mh on
8pm 1st MH off
830 2nd MH off
9pm 3rd MH off
10pm 1st vho off
11pm 2nd vho off
I am going to be running a moon light that I bought from fishbowl that has a timer which will simulate the moon phases so I will report if it is or was worth the money .....

really? Iwouldn't think that a moonlight would do anything as far as coral health / growth is concerned... anyone else noticed this?

I read in another forum that some people turn their actinics on one hour before MH which most people do, but then they set their timer to turn the actinics off while the MH are on. Finally after the MH turn off they turn their actinics on for a hour or so.

Does anyone do this?
Any impact on the tank?
