I am planning on restarting my 12 gl nana cube and makeingit a sps dominated reef. i am in the works of a custom skimmer, but is wanted to know how the 150w jbj viper does. (tempature of tanks an light intensity) i am planing on keeping monti and maximas on the sandbed/near the bottom so i want plenty of light.

You should post your ambient room temperature and ask people what theirs is when they reply. That has a lot to do with how cool you'll be able to keep the tank. If your house gets warm or not a lot of air flow, you will have a tougher time. I have a 70w viper over my 12g NC, my ambient room temp ranges 70 to 75, but not much if any airflow...

Tank temp 80-81F (light ~7" off the water)

Not a 150W, but after seeing this, I couldn't keep a 150W due to lack of airflow, even with lots of water movement.

If you have a fan blowing over the top of the water and even up at the vipe you will be fine. I have 250W Reef Optix III over my 10 gal. Ambient Room Temp is around 70-74 and the water stays at a constant 77. I also have one of my three powerheads pointing at the surface of the water.
