Lighting reco for LPS only tank

My LPS are not doing as well under 250W DE as they were under T5 only. The lights are Giesemann 14.5K, but they're VERY white and bright. So I'm setting up a LPS specific tank, for now it will be an Oceanic 37 cube. It's 24L, and I'm having a tough time deciding on lighting. I like the look of more blue, and I have lots of micros/lords and some dendros. The basic other euphylia also.

What is the BEST lighting set-up for such an LPS dedicated tank? I was wondering about the 6x24W Tek. Or a 4x24W Icecap retro, driven by a 660. Are there other options that would be good? Or a 150W + T5? Or maybe just a 150W that's bluer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

do sps do well under vho's? im thinking of using them on my next tank since i have a lot of lps as of right now

Some of the more hardy SPS will do fine under VHO lighting as well. Best to keep them in the upper portions of the tank.

Hey Fliger -
I have my LPS under a 400watt Radium, althought most of them are at or near the bottom of a 28" deep tank. I, too, sound that the 14K and 10K halides were a little too bright for them. I will be switching to a combination of T5 and PC soon, as I am swtiching the 400watter over to my new SPS frag tank.

I'll keep you posted.

BTW what is the depth on the Oceanic 37 cube?

Thanks Stoner. Its about 22" tall. I'm leaning towards a combo of T5 lighting. If the tank were longer I might do VHO, but I can fit 4-6 T5 bulbs easily. Its really a nice tank for LPS, I can't wait to get it going next week. I'll keep you posted as well.
