lighting switch

thinking of switching from metal halides to t-5's

reasoning:
1. price of replacement bulbs
2. temperature of lights while running
3. power consuption of lights

please anyone give your advice
and if anyone has ever switched from halides to t-5's want you opions too.

I am very happy I switched for the reasons you mention. I do miss the shimmer lines, but not enough to go back.

do the t5's give off a nice bright color though?
I mean as far as coral color

and they are able to satisfy the needs of sps

how many bulbs would you recommend for a 90 galolon tank 8 or 6?
