How long should the lights be on for in a "general" coral and fish setup? I currently am running a 250 watt MH for 16 hrs. My corals look good but being new to the whole coral thing, I wasn't sure if 18 would be too much.

Usually 12 hours is the photoperiod most people shoot for, because that's the approximate time most corals get in their natural habitat. Some people run over a little, but I think 16 and 18 hours are just too long. Problems can sometimes arise (As I've Heard). So 12 hours is the best time to shoot for.
