lightless fuge

hi, i have an AC500 fuge, witha handful of 3 differnt types of algea. im not sure what kind they are. one type is green and stringy, the other is red with some bubble like things on it, and the other is red. is it ok that i dont have any lights on it? i ahvent got any sand for it yet, so i dont have any lights on the fuge. i have had the algea since saturday without any lights. i do have a fixture i could use for the fuge-a 13w screw in power compact. is this ok

Without light, of some sort, the algae will die. That fixture should be OK. Just be careful around water if it is not designed for aquarium usage. I use a cheap fixture from Home Depot - http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=313318

A 13 watt PC should be plenty over a AC500 Just take note of Vickie's warning about water I'd also get that light going soon as possible. Most macro's can take a few days without light, but not much more.
