i would avoid it simply for the fact that i wouldnt want to lose a mantis or a expensive lionfish. you just never know what a mantis or a lionfish will do.
i believe a lionfish only has poison in their spines so im not sure if it would poison the tank or not?
i had a 3" fuzzy dwarf lion fish and a 3" peacock together for about 5 months in a 55g tank. i had no problems. the only time i was worried was when i introduced the lion fish. the lion fish and the mantis were "checking each other out." after that they went on there marry ways.
