Just something I want to share with all the newby's that are new to using an R.O. unit. I perchased one of the units on e-bay it was a good deal and i got a free set of new filter's with the unit.I read the instructions twice then assembled the unit and let it run for two hours to clear the filters just like the instruc. said then started to make my water to fill my tank. all said and done tank filled and looken good! about two weeks go by and i get an alge problem. so i decided to have the R.O. water checked to see whats up! the water was no different than strait out of my faucet so i checked my pluming and assembly of the unit it was fine. so i opened all the filter canister's and the membrain was missing :mad2: . they shipped the membrain seperate and failed to say anything about this in the instructions.
soooo:o lesson learned!!! i now have a fancy 110g alge farm.tank tear down to comence this weekend.

Darn. Thanks for posting this for the newbies hangles. That's why it's very important to own a TDS meter and test your RO/DI water every time you make water. This is also the only way to tell if you need new DI or a new membrane. Don't buy an RO/DI unit without a TDS meter, it's the only way to tell if it's functioning properly.

Good post EEE. I tell people that operating an RO DI system without a tds meter is like driving a car w/o a speedometer. Can you do it? Sure. But the meters are sure a good thing to have.

Ouch!

Ouch!

DO you really have to tear everything down?
Cant you just put the membrane in and let the bloom clear on its own?
