After reading some articles, I have seen people say they don't have a lot if any liverock. But instead other hideing places. Can you help me out with this one. I have a 10 gallon tank with 10lbs of live rock a gulf mantis with sand bed.
you can use live rock if there's a deep enough bed of CC or sand for the mantis to burrow in. You just can't be sure where he is going to make his home at. If you give him a tube, YOU decided where his home is at.
I opted for no tube but, I also have a smaller tank. Here's a pic.
Zack, yes it is caulerpa.. various kinds. When I get the HOT refugium I ordered, most of it will go in there (except the feather) untill I can go diving and get some better macroalgae.
.
Both of my Mantis live in the holes of my Aquacultured liverock, as do two Bristle Worms, in a 39 gal eclipse with numerous other creatures. All are doing fine, none live in the sand yet, but the tank is only 17 months young.
