I just picked up a 2 part tube of Loctite marine expoxy. It says not for use in aquariums or potable water. Is this just a liability thing. I would think most epoxys once they are fully cured they are not toxic.

I would NOT consider that product if it indeed says that on the packaging.

It might not kill everything initially, but leech poisons into the system over time.

(Thinks of using it on a boat, but isn't it still leeching it into the ocean/lake?)

Not all epoxies are safe for aquatic life. My company makes about 70 different epoxies, only 2 are approved for potable water service. The others have curing agents or fillers that leach unacceptable levels of compounds that aren't good to drink (like zinc, mercury, tin, arsenic, antimony, and cadmium).

Be very careful what you put in your tank.

I use Star brite, been in the tank for 6 months and no problems. I get it from the LFS that I trust.
