Long nosed butterfly help.

I just picked up a beautiful LNB Sunday,Got him home and acclimated for 1 hour
then into refugium with tons of live pods,mysis,ect... He's been doing great eating non stop ect.... Today I noticed he's a little crazy,Jerky movements
and hanging out at the top "Spitting and sticking his nose out of the water"
Which I believe I read they do this at times so not to worry,But I'm worried because I see some light red blotches on his skin today and am wondering is this a sign of stress when they do this or a way to get me to notice ?

Also I talked to someone today who told me my salinity is to high for a long nose they should be at 1.020 I'm at 1.025? Is this true?

The salinity comment sounds strange - Many Fish Only folks like the lower salinity for reasons other than placing the fish in its natural habitat. Often times fish only tanks can spike amonia. Amonia is more hameful at higher salinities. dsl

Anyway, these fish have a sore reputation in aquariums. They are often (more than not) hard to feed.

Oh forgot to mention he's in my non attached ref on a temp basis for 3 -4 weeks.
I have my Qt on standby with meds and need to know should I take him out now and get him started on some antibiotics? I have Furan-2 on hand.

the jerky motions, i believe and im NO EXPERT on butterflys , is a normal behavior, they kinda jerk then glide through the water, hence the name butterfly


idk, give it some time, ive learned to not worry TOO much

lol no problem,Yeah that's the thing he's eating everything for me! Live mysis off the rock,Frozen mysis,brine,Krill,and a tiny bit of Rods fish eggs.
So no problem eating with this one

Yeah my alk was a little on the low side and now it's back to normal.
He's actually seems fine but the red blotches worry me. I don't want to loose this fish,Lost my first one to Ich

If the refugium is not attached, how is the water getting filtered? I would definitely test for ammonia if there's no/little live rock in there.

The Ref is 30 gallons ,has about 40 pounds of live rock, I'm running a Hob filter
with Rox carbon,Super skimmer 100.
No traces of ammonia or nitrite. Ph is at 8.2-8.3 alk and cal are in range as well .

Checked on him this morning and I see hair line light red-light brown streaks on the body Not a lot but a few. Going to do a water change in a few.

Ok well after looking him over the streaks are more than a few and from what I read today bacterial infections kill fast. Im going to pull the plug and put him in Qt for a few days with some antibiotics. Problem is a new Qt that is not cycled Can I use any water conditioner with antibiotics? I'm going to use Furan2 That's the one I have on hand

Questions:
Can I keep skimmer running?
Use a conditioner such as ammo lock or Amquel plus along with antibiotic?
If not how often should I do a w/c?
Never having to use an antibiotic Im a little worried of effects,Anything I should watch for?
