My n wennerae is on his 11th day with the cave opening blocked.

It once went 12 days but usual molt time is 5 days.

What's your experience with molt times ?

When you say blocked do you mean he moved something in front of his cave so he'd be safe. I'm transferring my nanocube contents into my 40 gallon in hopes to make my nanocube a species only mantis shrimp tank. All the behaviors they have make them seem so intelligent. And this moving somehting to block the cave opening sounds awesome!!

Matt, He closes up his cave every night. The lights are on timers and he seems to be able to tell time because he starts about ten minutes before the lights go out.

Ron, Three weeks ? Did you get nervous the he died ?

Heard the click this morning, finished molting right on schedule  .

Actually, he has done the long molt thing several times. This is his 4th moly in 9 months or so.Je always takes at least a week and a half and Dr. Caldwell mentioned that G. platysoma often has a difficult time of it.
But yes, I did thin that perhaps he hadn't made it (See difficult molt above). I was looking in 3 days back, and i saw him anxiously staring back at me (famished,I assumed), so I quickly thawed a piece of scallop and threw in a couple of slices (one for his roomate,a huge purple serpent ). He scarfed it down, and all seems ok. His coloration is freaky now, with some of the cream, green, purple and pink tinged with a dark green/grey/blackish that is almost a gloss black. I'll try and get some pictures of him later this week.
