Looking for 14K EVC pics

Hello I am setting up a 150G RR tank it is 29" deep. I like blue but not too blue bulbs. I was checking out the EVC 14K and it is priced pretty good. Also I check the PAR numbers on Sanjay's site and it seemed to fare better than most of the midrange bulb he tested.

I was wondering if any of you are running them and would like to show a pic of your tank.

Also how is your growth and color?

Growth was decent when I was using it. A Little too blue for my personal taste, but would use them again. I still have the setup, I can take a pic of my rock curing tank later this evening if you'd like.

That would be cool I was looking for something between the 10K look and the windex look. The EVC stomped the Hamilton14K and the XM 15K in PAR. I just haven't seen anyone running them yet.

Well, I managed to get some pics for you. Keep in mind though, This is a hard color for my camera to deal with. The $200 nikon does the best it can! I took these pics with the same settings. The 14k is NOT as blue as it appears, but it is blue. The "white" are 2 50/50 pcs. I'm curing this rock, so it's nothing fantastic but better than nothing i suppose.

I can try to get better ones, but I assure you, it's not a 20k bulb, even though it may look like it from the pics.

My corals looked pretty awesome under this bulb in real life though.

This one here is a better representation of the true bulb color, This tank is craptacular- and so was this old camera too, but again, better than nothing.

The camera has to be doing something squirrely in those first pics. Don't worry my 75g tank looks far more craptastic that is why the upgrade is in progess.

What ballast are you using?

I'm using the EVC 250w electronic. I'm completely satfisfied with the setup, you can't compare the quality/cost on this thing with a 10ft pole as long as I'm concerned. It was well worth the $165 I paid from OE about 18months ago.

Hi -

I got my 2 x 250 evc ballasts and bulbs from ocean encounters. VERY SATISIFIED. I started out with the 14k bulbs. They are pretty blue - nebraskareef's last photo is a great example. I recently swithched to the xm 10k b/c of the par value. Have you been to sanjay's site where he lists several bulbs and there performance on the EVC ballasts? The site also has photos.

I haven't seen Sanjays site with pics but one of his site where you can pick and choose ballast and bulb combo is what got me jazzed about the EVC in the first place. I was thinking about running the EVC 14K on a PFO HQI ballast to really push some PAR out of it.
