I am either looking to build or buy a new clam tank. However, I'm havving a lot of trouble finding what I'm looking for which is a tank with a 45 degree front, or one with a curved front. If possible I would also like to find one with several overflow sections in the back.

Can anyone help me???

Pics, examples, or ideas would also be greatly appricated...

Thanks

Have seen that clam tank on their web site and it really looks cool.

No doubt viewing clams this way is best as you can see the true colors.

There is a tank shown in Daniel Knops book that has a divided front side that is verticle about 2/3 of the way up the tank then has a 45 degree viewing panel at the top 1/3 of the tank. It looks great for a clam tank.

Yea, that clamsdirect tank looks real nice. I it looks like they can make custom sizes so you could order it exactly how you wanted. I think Knop is where the design came from, but I could be wrong. Anyway, I am a little ticked now because I just bought a new 37-gallon show aquarium a little while back...

OHHHH! Hell! I was all happy and comfortable with my two tanks. Then I saw this thread! How am I going to convince the wife to allow me to get one of these?

Those are awesome! I have been looking/wondering when these would be available in the states.

Thanks:mad2:

Thanks for all the help, but I still can not find what I'm looking for I think I'm going to hae to build it myself. I wish I could exsplain it better. I'll have to post some pics when I finish.

MDKyleZ, Did you take a look here: http://www.clamsdirect.homestead.com/tank.html

If this is not what you are talking about when you say 45 degree front, then I am at a total loss.

This tank has an overflow and a 45 degree angled viewing area. It also says he takes custom orders so you could get it any size you wanted and I guess get as many overflows as you wanted. It sounded exactly like what you were looking for. Maybe you can work up a quick sketch and scan it or draw something in paint real fast.

I don't know how you would do a curved front and get the same effect. It seems that would be very cost inhibitive. I guess you are talking about something like a bowfront, but the bow running the other direction. Like from top to bottom? That would look cool for sure, but I don't know if you would get as good of an effect as the 45 degree angle.

But anyway, has anyone bought one of these new clam tanks yet? I would sure like to see a few setups if you have one. I just love dedicated clam tanks. I drool every time I look at Peterââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s tank... :) :) :)

The 45 degree frount is not the problem I'm havving, sorry if I was not clear. I want two overflow sections. That's the problem.

Thanks for all of your help.

Nope, not the same tanks at all. I am not sure why Jim took down the pictures of his tank his is selling, but it is not a very good design IHMO. He had pictures up of his clam tank before he was selling them. Jim's were made of glass and had no overflows (I think). Since they are glass they won't let as much PAR into the tank (through the viewing area), especially if you already have a glass shield on your pendant. On top of that, they have black trim around the top of the glass that blocks light too. One of the pieces of trim would run right across the middle top of the tank. I would imagine that it would make one ugly shadow across your clams.
