Im thinking about getting a new fish sometime soon, maybe within a couple weeks. I just dont know what i want. I kinda want something uncommon, but not tooo expensive... Prolly no more than $100ish.

I have a 90 gall mixed reef with only 3 fish now. A Purple tang, and two golden striped clowns hosting in a carpet anemone.

Id love an angel, just not sure if i want to take the 50/50 chance of nipping at some corals.

Help a brotha out!!!

First two fish that come to mind are a swalesi candy basslet (Liopropoma swalesi), and a twin spot candy hogfish (Bodianus bimaculatus). The swalesi is cool because it comes out in the twilight light when the other fish are in and it looks great under actinic lights; it is a cave dweller by day.

Ooo - cave dweller - cool :)

Do you have a sand bed? I have a soft spot for bottom dwellers and it looks like that sphere of your tank is uninhabited.

a couple of leopard wrasses would be a great addition and they are great community fish that are reef safe and yes I'm partial to wrasses !

McCosker's Flasher Wrasse. Striking colors and makes for a great community fish. It's always swimming all over the place too, not just one level of the tank. It's been keeping my bristleworm population from getting out of control as well.

Harry,
Be careful with if you go the route of the blue jawfish....they jump so you need a net or cover for the tank but they are SUPER cool. HAve you ever had any Bangaii? They look awesome and aren't that pricey. Go with one unless you have a comfirmed male since usually they kill off each other unless they are multiple females and they are impossible to tell them apart. I vote Bangaii :)

Good luck!

I dont think im going to go the jawfish route. I dont want $100 bill to just jump out of my tank without notice and find it laying there all crusted up.

If you like Angelfish, check out the Bellus Angelfish:

I dont think this would be a good fit for my tank... It says that max size is 7"... IMO i think thats going to be way to big of a fish for my 90 Gall. Pretty fish though.

Thanks kent... a couple bangaiis are a possibility, but i had a couple before... They're a little on the boring side. They just sit there allllllll day long.

If your tank is covered, I would go with a male and a couple of females of any of the flasher wrasses. Reefhotspot has female and male filament flasher wrasses (Paracheilinus filamentosus) right now. There's nothing like watching the male show off for the females!

ooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....GREAT suggestion. But they can be jumpers, too. Don't think they quite get the distance that the jawfish does, however. lol.
