Looking to creat aquascape with PVC

Can someone tell me where I can find examples of configurations which incorporates live rock attached to PVC for aquascaping?

Much Thanks :)

Ahh i haven't seen that done, but have read and heard about it. I am going to use zip ties to strap rock to the rack on the right side of my tank. The zipties are usually one of the first things coraline attaches to (plastic) so it won't be too unsightly for long.

The method for drilling involves a masonary bit. You drill into the rock a bit, then insert an acrylic rock or PVC into the hole. You can make lots of structures that way too.

An easier way is to use say Sch 80 3/4" PVC pipe and drill the PVC pipe with a plastic bit (many holes). Then drill holes in your rock with a masonry bit and run zip ties between the holes in the rock and through the holes in the PVC pipe. Use a plastic zip tie puller to tighten and cut the zip tie. The PVC pipe can be glue together to form a rigid framework for all of the rock as well as allowing everything but the rock to be hidden. This is a cheap, easy wat to make rockwork that will not fall and break your tank.

I wanted to do the same thing. I wanted to creeate a "leg" from the ground straight up to meet a ledge. I was concerned with the rock just splitting in two while drilling..... I hope some one has tried and can give advice.

I build a PVC stand out of 1/2", next one 3/4" PVC, first one white, one in process black from Savko.com, drill holes through the PVC so that they take on water. Drill holes through some of the rocks and attach them to the PVC with plastic zip ties.

I am making my first attempt at ledges. I have a 1/4" nylon rod and am drilling holes in the rock, putting some aqua mend (from Home Depot) in the holes and inserting the rod in to each rock.

I probably should have got larger diameter plastic rod, someone suggested plastic coat hangers.

Another great idea. I wonder if it can support the weight of the rock. I guess you can drill a couple of holes for added support. So I guess you would attache the end into the pvc. I thought about using egg crate too.

2 questions for you all..... how thick does the nylon rod need to be for a good support. I was thinking if it was small enough, I could just thread it through the rock after drilling small holes through it.

second, if its a little thicker diameter that is required, say 1/2 or 3/4, has anyone successfully drilled smaller pieces of LR without it breaking apart???

Hey guys, I used Coat hangers and epoxy to make an arch as well as to elevate my Big chunks of Live rock off the glass since I'll be going Barebottom. I just used a regular drill bit, slightly larger than the diameter of the coat hanger "dowels." I drilled right through the live rock carefully while pouring saltwater in the hole to cool things down just in case. It actually drilled better with water since it kinda helped wash out the grit.

Here's how i build an arch.

Hard to see it due to the depth but the arch runs from one corner of the 54g corner tank to the other. Then there is a rock wall behind it. Very noticable in person but hard to get on film.
