LR cycling ?

I understand you can cycle LR in plastic bins, trash cans, etc. Would it be a good idea to use 2 separate containers and have the rock, skimmer, heater, and powerhead in one container and fresh saltwater in the other. When it's time to scrub the rock and water change just move everything to the container with the fresh saltwater? Then keep alternating containers until the rock has cured?

It all depends on what you are going to do.
I myself wouldn't necessarily scrub the rock (unless it's had a long transit time). The seperate tub for new salt water is a good idea.
Have the skimmer, heater, ph in one tub. Run the skimmer 24/7. When the time comes for a water change, just swish the rocks around in the tub, turn the power head off, and siphon as much dead stuff from the bottom as you can.
I'd just do partial water changes. Say you're curing in a 10 gallon rubbermaid, i'd change maybe 3 gallons of water or so every 2 or 3 days, then one massive water change a few days before the rocks are totally cured.

What I was thinking is to put the rock in the 2nd container with all new water. Instead of a water change, just change containers.

That would work, but it would waste salt. I did it your way because I wanted it done faster. I don't know if it actually was, but I felt I was getting the rock cleaner that way. Just make sure you keep a powerhead the second tub--I also kept a heater in my second one.

Either way is good. Personal preference. I don't like siphoning if I don't have to (and it smelled better your way as well)
