lugol's solution for tissue necrosis on sps???

iv'e got a staghorn that looks like it's developing tissue necrosis. can i dip it in a lugol's solution to stop this OR should I frag the unaffected parts and dip them so I don't lose the whole thing?

oppinions, experience, other suggestions???
